Brighton isn’t just about the Bay and the Beach but it’s also about The Block 2020! There looks to be some drama unfolding on tonight’s episode around pool compliance. Lucky for our Bay Street client they will be ready for the Bayside Council requirements!
All permanent pools and spas capable of holding water to a depth greater than 30cm must be registered. This includes inflatable and most relocatable ones. Bayside swimming pool and spa owners had until 1 November 2020 to register. This would include The Block Bay Street. After that, Owners will be required to have a registered building surveyor or inspector certify that their pool or spa safety barrier is compliant every four years.
Depending on when the pool was built, timeframes for certification will vary. Pools constructed on or:
- before 20 June 1994 must be certified by 1 November 2021.
- after 1 June 1994 to 30 April 2010 must be certified by 1 November 2022.
- after 1 May 2010 to 31 May 2020 must be certified by 1 November 2023.
New swimming pools or spas constructed after November 2020 will have to be registered within 30 days of receiving the relevant Occupancy Permit or Certificate of Final Inspection.
